This fancy Greystone Merrill granddaughter hails from Maryland, and is one of the first pair of residents at the rescue! Bred at Ledgewood Farm in Newbury, Ohio, and owned most of her life by O'Day Connemara's of Olney, Maryland, she is an extremely intelligent, sensitive mare. At O'Day Connemara's, she showed her intelligence by being the only pony to go to the end of the line and wait; as flakes of hay were dropped in feeding piles and competition ensued, Favor would quietly wait at the end, knowing she would get an entire pile to herself by doing so! She has a playful sense of humor, a 10 walk, and a big motor in that 14.2 hand package! She came as a bonded pair with Claddaugh Stormy Colleen.
Annie is an absolute hoot. Born in 1995 to breeders Michael and Susan Arney at Claddagh Farm in Avon, NY, she was sired by their stallion Greystone An Lauren, one of the four stallion sons of *Rosenharley Laurens. Her dam, Cobweb Allison, was conceived in a midnight through-the-fence breeding between Aladdins Denver and Greystone Irish Moss, who herself had jumped a competition round the night before foaling out Allison, who was a complete surprise to her owners. Allison went on to become a lovely broodmare as well, producing Annie later in life. Annie has had two foals, O'Days Cottage Rose and O'Day's Emily, who looked so much like her that they were hard to distinguish standing at the fence line! A good broodmare offers predictable get to her breeder, and Annie was superb in that respect, and in her mothering as well. She has always been particularly fond of children! She is also fond of being bred, though those days are past, and she will try to persuade you that you need to bring a stallion NOW when she is in season! Annie might be a farm favorite, and embodies how the rescue can take an aging horse who is losing weight and body mass and restore them to vigor and even, dare we say, a fat pad or two? She is an alpha mare, an admirable Irish woman indeed..
Folklore Honor Larkin (on the right) was foaled in April of 1997 by Folklore Connemara's in Missouri. Sired by Tre Twain Cavan O'Conor out of the blue eyed creme mare Balius Siobhan, she has made a significant contribution to the breed herself as a mare of 10 foals: 9 fillies, and 1 colt! She was the first mare awarded Premium status.
Emerald was born in April of 2004, bred by Mary Yeager of Ohio out of her foundation broodmare Balius Miakoda and by Kilfenora Windy Isles. She has just one registered offspring, Folklore Inistiogue, and she belonged to Gloria LaCroix of Folklore Connemara's in Missouri.
Maisy (on the right) was bred by Pam Liddell, Kynynmont Connemaras in Pennsylvania, in approximately 2002. As sometimes happens, her papers were never found and she is an unregistered pony. To the eye, she appears to perhaps be an offspring of Kynynmont Aidan McVai, a stallion son of Greystone IanMcVai.
Born in June of 2003, her sire Healing Spring Willem O'Toole was one of the foundation stallions at Kynymont. He, in turn, was sired by Greysytone Tiger O'Toole, one of the four stallion sons of *Rosenharley Laurens, which makes her related to Annie above. As a rare breed, if you go back just a half dozen generations, our ponies are all related are they not? Cameron, who is also in CCRC, is her half brother! That is Kalea on the left.
Galen is a handsome, metallic chocolate dun. Sired in 2001 at Kathy Manyo's Ledgewood Farm, he is by the Ledgewood foundation stallion Greenway's Erin Rosslaire, and out of Kerrymor's Littlest Angel. This pair produced 3 offspring, with Galen being the only colt/gelding. He is beautifully correct and was seriously considered for a stallion prospect, nearing 15 hands. Galen is also uber kind!
This was a bit of a homecoming for Connor, as he is related to Tom and Fonda Engels foundation mare Aluinn Absolute, his half sister ! Out of the same dam as AA, Tullymor's Kahlua, and sired by Tullymor's Mountain Shadow, Connor is a July, 2004 former stallion bred by May Medley of Tullymor Connemaras. He is one of eleven siblings out of that pairing! He is starting to turn the corner from unhandled, to willing to make eye contact and approach the fence. Life is so good at CCRC; we expect him to continue to seek connection in increasing ways!
